Today we are presenting a very simple non-legislative motion: a motion to demand that the agency designated in Spain to oversee the introduction of algorithms and AI systems in companies, for citizens, and in public administration, actually carries out its functions. The European Artificial Intelligence Act, in force since 1 August of this year, says that all Member States must have a body precisely to help the development and deployment of AI systems. Yet a company that wants to deploy in Spain an AI-based system that may be high-risk does not know who can tell it whether it is acceptable, whether it is high-risk, and what documentation must be submitted. That is why we have tabled a clear motion so that AESIA puts the evaluation procedures in place now, starts operating, and provides the service it must provide to the public. Unverified source (2024)
