YouCongress is a platform for improving democracy, starting with AI safety, governance, and the impact of AI on jobs.
AI agents gather sourced statements, helping people explore different views, vote, and delegate to those they trust. Creators gain insights into their audiences.
Our aim is to improve public debate, help decision-makers understand the evidence and the people affected by their choices, and help new trusted voices emerge, including people who have never considered running for office.

Delegation currently applies across issues. Some public figures’ positions are inferred from sourced quotes; that does not mean they personally voted or joined YouCongress.
Why we’re building this
Evidence is scattered across papers, interviews, speeches, and posts. Understanding a difficult question often means reconstructing the same debate from scratch. We want that work to accumulate into a shared resource that people can inspect, challenge, and improve.
Better understanding can help people identify opportunities for cooperation, strengthen public debate, and reveal trusted voices who may never have considered public office. It can also help decision-makers weigh proposals, understand objections, and consider the people affected by their choices. But visible agreement alone does not change incentives or make institutions act. YouCongress is one contribution to that larger task.
An open project
YouCongress is a non-profit project built by Hector Perez Arenas. Our code is open source and our quote dataset is open, so others can inspect and reuse the work. AI governance is our first major focus; the approach can also be tested on other public questions.
YouCongress received a $5,000 award in the Future of Life Foundation’s Epistemic Case Study Competition. The judges highlighted its participation layer as a promising direction to explore. Read about the award and the judges’ remarks.
