Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026/09/26
YouCongress ("us", "we", or "our") operates https://youcongress.org (the "Site"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use and disclosure of Personal Information we receive from users of the Site.
We use your Personal Information only for providing and improving the Site. By using the Site, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Cookies and Analytics
We use essential cookies to operate the Site, including cookies for security, sign-in, session continuity, and remembering your cookie preference.
With your permission, we use Amplitude to understand how signed-in users interact with the Site so we can improve it. We do not send usage events to Amplitude unless you select “Accept” in the cookie banner. You can accept, reject, or change this choice at any time by selecting “Cookie settings” in the footer. Your choice is stored for up to one year.
Information Collection And Use
While using our Site, we may ask you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information that can be used to contact or identify you. This may include your email address, account and profile information (such as your username, name, profile image, and country), phone number if you choose to verify it, and authentication identifiers supplied by Google or X when you choose those sign-in methods.
If you use Reconsider, we collect your selected before and current responses for each statement, the Reconsider page and statements concerned, the time of your submission, and any delegates you select. A completed response is linked to your YouCongress account/profile to prevent duplicate responses. Your current response is also recorded as your YouCongress vote; delegate selections may create a global delegation. We present Reconsider results as aggregate counts to participants and do not publish a list of individual Reconsider responses.
Log Data
Like many site operators, we collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit our Site ("Log Data").
This Log Data may include information such as your computer's Internet Protocol ("IP") address, browser type, browser version, the pages of our Site that you visit, the time and date of your visit, the time spent on those pages and other statistics.
We retain access, application, and security logs for up to 30 days. Rate-limit identifiers are SHA-256 hashed before storage and are retained for up to 7 days.
If you consent to analytics, Amplitude may process usage event data on our behalf. We also use Plausible for aggregate, cookie-free traffic analytics.
Service Providers and External Content
We use service providers to operate YouCongress. Depending on the feature you use, they may process the following data on our behalf:
- Fly.io hosts the Site and application infrastructure. It may process connection and infrastructure data, including IP addresses, to deliver the Site.
- AppSignal provides application performance and error monitoring. When enabled, it may process technical diagnostic data, including request, session, and submitted-form context.
- Plausible provides aggregate, cookie-free traffic analytics. Your browser connects directly to Plausible when the analytics script loads.
- Amplitude provides optional product analytics for signed-in users who accept analytics. The events may include an account identifier, event type, and limited event context.
- Cloudflare Turnstile helps protect registration and contact forms from automated abuse. It receives browser and connection information when the Turnstile challenge loads.
- SendGrid delivers account, sign-in, and other transactional emails. It processes the recipient email address and message-delivery information.
- Twilio Verify sends and checks optional SMS phone-verification codes. It processes the phone number and verification-related data needed for that service.
- Google and X provide optional OAuth sign-in. If you choose either method, we receive the profile information that provider returns to us, such as its account ID, email address, name, and profile image where available.
- OpenAI provides AI features used to find, analyse, and verify public-source content. We do not send Reconsider before/current answers to OpenAI through these features.
- Substack manages newsletter subscriptions and delivery, as described below.
A Reconsider page may embed a YouTube video or display profile images hosted by third parties. When those resources load, the relevant third party receives your IP address and standard browser request information. If you follow a link to the article or video being reconsidered, its publisher receives the information in your request under that publisher's own policies.
Communications
If you subscribe, we use your email address to send YouCongress newsletters. These may include sourced quotes and news about AI governance, AI safety, and the impact of AI on jobs, as well as occasional YouCongress product updates. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link included in every newsletter.
We use Substack Inc. to manage newsletter subscriptions and deliver newsletters. Substack processes subscriber information, such as email addresses and newsletter engagement data, to provide these services. Substack's handling of Personal Information is also described in its Privacy Policy .
International Data Transfers
Some of our service providers, including AppSignal, Amplitude, Cloudflare, Google, OpenAI, SendGrid, Substack, Twilio, X, and YouTube, may process Personal Information in the United States or other countries outside your country of residence. Where required, we rely on appropriate transfer mechanisms and contractual safeguards, including standard contractual clauses.
Security
The security of your Personal Information is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

We reserve the right to update or change our Privacy Policy at any time and you should check this Privacy Policy periodically.
