Export the YouCongress dataset

YouCongress's data layer consists of sourced quotes from experts, policymakers and public figures, linked to statements (claims and policy proposals) and to each author's stance (For/Abstain/Against), inferred from their quotes. You can export this data as CSV.

Full dataset

Download every statement's sourced quotes in a single CSV file. It contains one row per quote–statement link, with the author, the quote text, the vote, the source URL, and the authoritative verification status for the quote's authenticity, its relevance to the statement, and the vote. Only statements with at least three verified quotes are included.

Licensed CC-BY-4.0: the YouCongress annotations in the file (statement titles, the statement-to-quote mapping, vote labels, our source_text citations, verification statuses, comments and dates) may be reused with attribution to YouCongress.org.

Excluded from this license: quote text and author bios are third-party content reproduced as short excerpts and remain the property of their respective rights holders; see each row's source_url.

Export a single statement

You can also export the quotes for just one statement. Open any statement page and click the Download CSV link (shown once the statement has at least one quote). The file uses the same columns as the full dataset, limited to that statement's sourced quotes.

Known limitations

Most assessments and the stance inference (For/Abstain/Against) are done by AIs, so they may contain errors.
We currently discard many quotes signed by more than one author, unless they are significant open letters, joint statements, etc., for which we create a single author to represent them.
