We welcome the Popular Group’s interest in regulating artificial intelligence and in strengthening AESIA’s capacity to act. That is why we have tabled an alternative text aimed at correcting and improving certain technical aspects, mainly those related to the competences that the European regulation assigns to AESIA, to the European Commission, and to certification bodies in general.
As for the evaluation point, the Artificial Intelligence Act already provides different evaluation mechanisms for high-risk AI systems, as set out in Article 43, and the Act itself regulates them depending on the category in which the system is classified. In other words, the regulation already states this, and it should be recalled that the general procedure will be self-assessment, without any need for the Commission or the Member States to develop specific procedures. Therefore, it is not for AESIA to publish or design the formats in which the required information must be submitted, without prejudice to its tasks of guidance and advice for SMEs and startups.
