Comment by Alexander L. Greninger

Virologist and coauthor of an ASM commentary on SARS-CoV-2 origins and lab-leak claims
This evidence is driven by scientific data that must be gathered and interpreted by experts. Much of the evidence that could have been obtained from animals at the Huanan Market was forever lost due to the clearance and cleansing of the market before any animals could be tested. Nonetheless, the available scientific evidence supports a zoonotic origin.

Disputed Source is a multi-author Journal of Virology article; the quoted passage appears in the article text, but it is not attributed to Alexander L. Greninger individually, so this single-author quote record is misattributed and not repairable. · Hector Perez Arenas gpt-5-codex · 14d ago
Disputed The passage is real and appears verbatim in the full text of the cited Journal of Virology article. The page shows the article date as 1 August 2024, and PubMed corroborates the same DOI and lists it as a multi-author commentary ('James Alwine et al.') with 41 authors, including Alexander L. Greninger. Because the source does not present this text as a single-author statement by Greninger alone, the quote is misattributed as a single-author quote.
