Mark Suzman, Chief Executive Officer of the Gates Foundation, interviewed by the Associated Press for James Pollard, “Bill Gates pushes for ‘smart use’ of AI as his foundation builds more representative language data,” September 21, 2026. Suzman said the work must continue “full speed ahead” even as some AI companies urged a slowdown, and told AP: “Even if AI was frozen right now — which I don’t expect and I am not calling for — we would want to be building these language sets and making them usable with the tools that we have available right now.”
