The Center for Democracy & Technology submitted a Reply Comment to the Federal Communications Commission opposing a petition to exempt noncommercial political calls to wireless numbers from the Telephone Consumer Protection Act’s (TCPA) prior express consent requirement when they use artificial or prerecorded voice, including AI-generated voice. [...] Waiving the consent requirement would strip voters of crucial protections at the moment harms are most acute.
