Spanish parliamentarian (People's Parliamentary Group)
The People’s Parliamentary Group is presenting this motion to ensure that Spain complies immediately and effectively with the new European Regulation 2024/1689 on artificial intelligence. It is pioneering legislation, which entered into force on 1 August 2024 with a phased application, and it seeks to reconcile the unstoppable development of AI with respect for fundamental rights, without hindering innovation. That regulation establishes four risk levels for AI systems and requires Member States to supervise, control and authorise high-risk systems. But AESIA has not published the evaluation procedure for AI systems, nor the supervision timelines. How are companies supposed to comply if they do not know what technical documentation they must submit, how, and where? That is why we are calling for AESIA to urgently publish the evaluation procedure aligned with the risk categories in the European regulation, to provide a clear official digital submission channel, and to set clear and binding timelines for supervision and authorisation.
