Members, the advance of artificial intelligence is a reality—a reality that the Socialist Parliamentary Group believes it is necessary to regulate in order to promote a humanist AI at the service of people and that protects the most vulnerable. Technology is advancing at a dizzying pace and legislation is always trailing behind, but in the case of artificial intelligence, the advances produced in the last two years have run over us like a freight train. Artificial intelligence offers many challenges and opportunities, but also very serious threats. Those who face the greatest danger are the most vulnerable people, who may be discriminated against by many factors, such as algorithmic bias, and all of this compounded by the risk of a growing digital divide. [...] The European regulation offers a legislative framework that is a good starting point, but it is not enough; many aspects still remain to be reflected on and decided, and on these matters each State will have to legislate according to its ethical convictions. [...] In the Socialist Party we say yes to artificial intelligence, but with a humanist character, at the service of people and with special protection for those most vulnerable.
