Comment by Sam Altman
CEO at OpenAI
On our current trajectory, we believe we may be only a couple of years away from early versions of true superintelligence. Of course, we could be wrong, but I think it really bears serious consideration. [...] A superintelligence, at some point on its development curve, would be capable of doing a better job as the CEO of a major company than any executive, or doing better research than our best scientists.

Verified. Quote attributed to Sam Altman (CEO, OpenAI), year 2026. WebFetch of the Medianama source_url returned HTTP 403, but a web search confirmed the quote: addressing delegates at the February 2026 AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, Altman said "on the current trajectory, we believe we may be only a couple of years away from the early versions of true superintelligence," and that a superintelligence "would be capable of doing a better job being the CEO of a major company than any executive, certainly me ... and doing better research than our best scientists." Corroborated by Fortune, The News, and other outlets covering the same remarks. The quote is relevant to statement 177 ("AGI could quickly lead to superintelligence") since Altman asserts superintelligence is imminent on the current trajectory. The recent-quote payload showed a null vote, but attempting to create a "for" vote returned "this author already has a vote for the selected statement," so the existing vote is preserved. Author attribution and source are correct.
