Comment by Sung Nok Chiu

Statistician at Hong Kong Baptist University specializing in spatial statistics.
The assumption that a centroid of early case locations or another simply constructed point is the origin of an epidemic is unproved. A Monte Carlo test used to conclude that no other location than the seafood market can be the origin is flawed.

Disputed The supplied wording is real: it appears in the abstract at the arXiv URL, with only the numbered markers “(1)” and “(2)” omitted from your version, and the arXiv record is dated 2022-08-22. But the source attributes the text to two individual authors—Dietrich Stoyan and Sung Nok Chiu—not to Sung Nok Chiu alone, so this platform cannot verify it as a single-author quote.
