Nutrition researcher and coauthor of a Journal of Nutrition study on hypo- and hyperresponse to dietary cholesterol
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the differences that occur within the plasma compartment of normolipidemic men, classified on the basis of their response to prolonged consumption of additional dietary cholesterol. Using a crossover design, 40 men aged 18-57 y were randomly allocated to an egg (640 mg/d additional dietary cholesterol) or placebo group (0 mg/d additional dietary cholesterol), for two 30-d periods, which were separated by a 3-wk washout period.

Disputed The quote is real: the ScienceDirect page for this article shows those exact opening abstract sentences (allowing only the hyphen/en-dash difference in the age range), and Arizona State University’s publication page reproduces the same abstract text. However, the work is a six-author paper—Kristin L. Herron, Sonia Vega-Lopez, Karin Conde, Tripurasundari Ramjiganesh, Neil S. Shachter, and Maria Luz Fernandez—also listed by PubMed, so this platform cannot verify it as a single-author quote attributed solely to Kristin L. Herron. Published April 2003.
