Comment by Gary Marcus

In other times in history when we have faced uncertainty and powerful new things that may be both good and bad, that are dual use, we have made new organizations, as we have, for example, around nuclear power. We need to come together to build a global organization, something like an international agency for AI that is global, non profit and neutral.

AI Verified The quote clearly supports creating a new global AI body: it says 'We need to come together to build a global organization... an international agency for AI that is global, non profit and neutral.' While it does not name CERN, it directly endorses the core idea of a CERN-like international institute for AI. · YouCongress gpt-5.4-2026-03-05 · 17d ago

AI Verified Yes. A transcript mirror of this TED talk contains the full two-sentence passage verbatim in the governance section (around 7:18–7:41) and attributes it to Gary Marcus; the official TED page is the same April 2023 TED2023 talk by Gary Marcus and summarizes that he calls for a global, nonprofit AI organization.
