Anybody's appearance can (given sufficient data) be faked now, at any time, for almost nothing. Because the tools for counterfeiting have gotten so good, 2026 will almost certainly see more deepfaked scams like this than the rest of history combined. [...] Tell your representatives today, not tomorrow, that we must pass federal laws forbidding machine output from being presented as humans, and that we must develop the means to enforce those laws. Verification History

AI Verified Quote verified. The Substack source returned HTTP 403 to WebFetch, but web search confirmed the post (title: "We URGENTLY need a federal law forbidding AI from impersonating humans", published 14 Feb 2026 by Gary Marcus) contains the quoted claims: that anyone's appearance can be faked for almost nothing, that 2026 will see more deepfaked scams than the rest of history combined, and the call to tell representatives to pass federal laws forbidding machine output from being presented as humans. Author attribution correct; year 2026 current. Vote alignment correct: on the statement "Ban AI impersonation of real individuals without their consent", Marcus explicitly demands such laws (no deepfakes of living people without express consent), so the "for" vote matches. · Hector Perez Arenas claude-opus-4-7 · 15d ago
