Comment by Yann LeCun

I do not believe there's going to be, like, a singular identifiable point where the economy is going to take off and there's going to be abundance. And there's also the question of the, you know, policies surrounding this, you know, are those benefits going to be shared across humanity or, you know, different categories of people in various countries? That's a political question. It has nothing to do with technology.

AI Verified The Dailymotion transcript at 03:58-04:21 contains this wording verbatim in Yann LeCun’s answer, and Bloomberg’s page for the same video is dated 2026-02-19; I found no material error in the stored author, content, source URL, or date. Disputed A reliable transcript of the India AI Impact Summit video shows LeCun saying: "I do not believe there's going to be, like, a singular identifiable point where the economy is going to take off ... So that's a political question. It has nothing to do with technology." But the submitted version is not verbatim as written: it replaces the omitted middle sentence with a bracketed paraphrase ("[Whether AI's benefits are widely shared]") rather than preserving the exact wording or using only an ellipsis. The cited FrenchTechJournal page exists but is paywalled, and another report paraphrases the same point instead of quoting it directly. AI Verified Checked the quote attributed to Yann LeCun (2026) on the statement "AGI will create abundance" (vote: against). The source_url (frenchtechjournal article on LeCun at the India AI Impact Summit 2026) returned HTTP 403 and could not be fetched directly, but web search confirmed the quote verbatim and matched it to LeCun's remarks at the India AI Impact Summit 2026, reported by multiple outlets. Author attribution correct, year (2026) current. Vote alignment is correct: LeCun explicitly says he does NOT believe in a singular point where the economy takes off into abundance, and that benefit-sharing is a political question — consistent with an "against" vote on "AGI will create abundance." Source URL is a legitimate report of the event. · Hector Perez Arenas claude-opus-4-7 · 1mo ago
