Comment by Kevin Hassett
Director of the U.S. National Economic Council; economist; former Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers
We're studying, possibly an executive order to give a clear roadmap to everybody about how this is going to go and how future AIs that also potentially create vulnerabilities should go through a process so that they're released to the wild after they've been proven safe, just like an FDA drug.

Verified via web search. The Hill blocks WebFetch (403), but the article ('Hassett: White House may review AI models like an FDA drug') is corroborated by Bloomberg, Federal News Network, Fortune, and others. The quote matches almost verbatim (minor word 'in/to the wild'). Author attribution correct - Kevin Hassett is Director of the National Economic Council. Vote 'for' on 'Require AI labs to publish safety evaluations before deploying frontier models' aligns: Hassett is endorsing pre-release safety evaluations modeled on FDA approval. Year 2026 is current.
