We need whistleblowers now more than ever. But how can we rely on insiders to shield us from high-stakes AI failures when they lack industry-wide protections and remain vulnerable to retaliation? Whistleblowers are our primary line of defense in this field. But shields need protection too. Without enforceable legal guarantees, we’re asking people to make sacrifices they shouldn’t have to.
