AI will destroy the value of most labour, creating a vast, permanent underclass. Within a few decades, software and robots will replace workers across most industries, making much of human work unnecessary. Society will divide into three classes: people who own capital, people providing low-paid personal services, and a large unemployed population with no economic role. The last two groups will form a permanent underclass, unable to save enough to build wealth or escape poverty.
