Comment by Rob Wittman

As the use of artificial intelligence proliferates across our society, we must protect all Americans – from artists to innocent young children -- from deepfakes and non-consensual voice and image clones that can ruin their careers, deceive friends and families, and traumatize victims. The bipartisan NO FAKES Act is an important step in safeguarding Americans from bad actors who may try to exploit their creativity or generate sexually explicit deepfakes. I’m proud to join my colleagues in introducing this critical piece of legislation to counter AI’s potential threats to Americans’ safety while balancing the need for American innovation.

AI Verified The quote clearly supports restricting AI impersonation without consent: it calls for protecting Americans from 'deepfakes and non-consensual voice and image clones' and praises the NO FAKES Act as a 'critical' safeguard. That directly implies support for banning AI impersonation of real people without their consent. · YouCongress gpt-5.4-2026-03-05 · 16d ago

Disputed Disputed: the September 12, 2024 Salazar House press release does attribute a very similar statement to Rep. Rob Wittman, but the actual quote continues after "voice and image clones" with "that can ruin their careers, deceive friends and families, and traumatize victims," so the submitted version is not verbatim and omits text without using [...].
