Comment by René Obermann

Chairman of Airbus; former CEO of Deutsche Telekom.
To use the most advanced AI models, we largely depend on non-European infrastructure, and not just for the software itself. At best, this dependence will increase our costs. At worst, it will restrict our access to the most advanced AI models, which would be disastrous for Europe. Yet, Europe still has a strong hand to play in developing specialized AI models for sectors where it holds an industrial advantage. If we use that data to train specific models and provide the appropriate computing infrastructure, we too will have competitive advantages.
