As generative AI technologies continue to evolve, clear disclosure standards to preserve transparency are essential to civic engagement. Unfortunately, Congress has failed to keep up the pace with this rapidly advancing technology, leaving voters vulnerable to AI-generated misinformation and disinformation. This legislation would ensure voters know when political ads use AI-generated images and videos. If AI content can manipulate and deceive people on a large scale, it can be a serious threat to our democracy and have devastating consequences for our national and election security.
