Last week, we saw AI misuse lead to the early retirement of one Chief Constable. Now, the police reportedly plan to use AI to usher in an era of 'predictive policing', targeting criminals before they commit crimes. This is unbelievably unwise. The use of these sorts of predictive policing algorithms creates a postcode lottery of justice, reinforcing existing biases and inequalities. Infusing those systems with AI will only exacerbate the injustice. Unverified source (2026)
