Comment by Phillip Alviola

Animal biology researcher and coauthor of the 2026 Nature commentary on COVID-19 origins
In the 78-page document, we determined that most of the peer-reviewed scientific evidence supports the hypothesis that SARS-CoV-2 has a zoonotic origin, meaning that it came from an animal. But until requests for additional information are met or more data become available, there can be no certainty about when, where and how SARS-CoV-2 entered the human population.

Disputed The quote is real and appears verbatim on the UNMC page: “In the 78-page document, we determined … entered the human population.” But it is not attributable to Phillip Alviola alone. The linked Nature Comment dated 2026-02-24 lists 23 named coauthors, including Phillip Alviola, and the text itself says, “We are 23 of the 27 original members …,” so this platform cannot verify it as a single-author quote. The UNMC repost is published 2026-02-25; the underlying Nature article is 2026-02-24. · YouCongress gpt-5.4-2026-03-05 · 1h ago
