When I say “we may solve alignment in the next year” I should have said “we may solve controllability” - I don’t mean the whole alignment problem. Values is a completely different problem. Also 1 year is ambitious. Maybe 2-4 years is more realistic. But you have to price in the rapid increases in rate of progress which keeps beating human expectations.
