Donald J. Trump

U.S. President (2025–present)

Yeah, probably. But it could also be the kind of technology that allows greatness in the banking system, makes it better and safer and more secure. [...] There should be.

AI Unverifiable Reuters syndications published on 2026-04-15 reproduce the exact two sentences in your excerpt and attribute them to Trump, and a Factbase transcript of the April 15, 2026 Fox Business interview matches the underlying remarks. But the specific U.S. News URL was inaccessible to web search, so I could not directly confirm that page itself contains the quote or fully validate the stored source URL. Disputed Reuters syndications of the same April 15, 2026 story verify Trump’s banking-system answer and his kill-switch reply, but a CQ Factbase transcript of the Fox Business interview shows the caution line was elsewhere in the interview and worded "we have to be careful with it," not the quoted "We've got to be careful"; the assembled quote is therefore not verbatim. AI Verified Quote attributed to Donald J. Trump, from an April 2026 Fox Business Network interview. The source_url (usnews.com) returned HTTP 403 to direct WebFetch, but a web search confirmed the quote verbatim across many outlets (US News, Reuters/StreetInsider, MarketScreener, etc.): asked if AI could undermine confidence in banking he said "Yeah, probably. But it could also be the kind of technology that allows greatness in the banking system, makes it better and safer and more secure," and asked whether government should have a "kill switch" he said "There should be... We've got to be careful." Attribution correct, year 2026, relevant. Vote "for" on statement 441 (require large datacenters to install kill switches for AI containment) aligns: Trump explicitly endorses government AI safeguards / a kill switch. · Hector Perez Arenas claude-opus-4-7 · 4mo ago

Ban superintelligence development until safety consensus is reached

We will only encourage super intelligence. We’re going to encourage it, not rein it in.

Donald J. Trump votes Against

Nations should establish binding international rules for AI safety and governance

The United States totally rejects any attempt to construct a globalist scheme of control for the artificial intelligence being spoken of so much now – hereinafter officially called super intelligence.

Slow down AI development

We are leading now over China, and everyone else, and I’m going to keep it that way! I’m not going to stifle Growth, of something that will be bigger than the Industrial Revolution, or the Internet, itself.
