In the span of four years, we have gone from people having their first experience of an Al that could understand language, to Al that is performing superhuman feats of software engineering, making frontier math breakthroughs, and accelerating scientific research. Progress has shown no signs of slowing down and by default it is in the interest of individual corporations and countries to push the accelerator all the way down, even if it is in humanity's best interest for the future to not arrive all at once. Society has spent longer than we can remember developing the laws, institutions and technology to govern and oversee human intelligence; it would be good to have the option to spend any time at all doing the same for artificial intelligence.AI Verified (Jul 2026)
