We believe AI will do, and is doing, great things for the world. We are already seeing instances where pushing research maximally fast creates serious issues, and it is possible that these will get much more severe. Right now, competitive dynamics mean there is no realistic alternative to pushing maximally fast for frontier research. We need mechanisms to make slowing down possible for commercial labs in an acute situation.AI Verified (Jul 2026)
