Comment by Ben Goertzel

SingularityNET founder; AGI researcher
As a human being situated in this specific species, place, and time, I care a lot about the condition of all of us humans. And so, I would like to not only create a powerful general intelligence, but create one which is going to be beneficial to humans and other life forms on the planet, even while in some ways going beyond everything that we are, right? [...] So there's so many virtuous cycles among these different technologies. The more you advance in any of them, the more you're going to advance in all of them. And it's the coming together of all of these that's going to create, you know, radical abundance and the technological singularity.

AI Verified The quote directly endorses creating AGI: the author says they would like to "create a powerful general intelligence," while adding that it should be beneficial. That clearly supports building artificial general intelligence overall. · YouCongress gpt-5.4-2026-03-05 · 16d ago

AI Verified Verified. The source URL is for JRE episode #1211, dated December 4, 2018, and it contains both quoted passages verbatim, including “As a human being situated in this specific species, place, and time...” and later “So there's so many virtuous cycles among these different technologies...” with the omitted middle portion covered by the ellipsis. ([podscripts.co](https://podscripts.co/podcasts/the-joe-rogan-experience/1211-dr-ben-goertzel)) A second transcript of the same episode with speaker labels attributes the matching passages to Dr. Ben Goertzel at the corresponding timestamps, supporting correct attribution. Disputed The quote is correctly attributed to Ben Goertzel in a 2018 Joe Rogan Experience episode, and the source URL plus an independent transcript contain very similar passages. However, the submitted text is not verbatim: the transcript says "As a human being situated in this specific species, place, and time... So I would like..." and later "So there's so many virtuous cycles..." and "radical abundance and the technological singularity," not the exact edited wording shown here. AI Verified Verified via web search. Quote is from Ben Goertzel's appearance on Joe Rogan Experience #1211 (Dec 4, 2018), confirmed by SingularityNET's own X account quoting "virtuous cycles" and by JRE clips referencing "radical abundance and the technological singularity." The source URL (fight.fudgie.org) returned 403 but the quote content is well-documented as authentic. Vote "for" correctly aligns with statement "AGI will create abundance." Note: quote is from 2018 - Goertzel's views on this remain consistent through 2025 (Beneficial AGI Summit 2025, AI Inside podcast), but I could not access more recent sources to replace. · Hector Perez Arenas claude-opus-4-7 · 1mo ago
