We are expected, pretty soon, to hit the ability where an AI is good enough and a strong enough engineer that it can build the next generation of AIs. Once we hit that, things are going to get even crazier, even faster, and it’s widely expected by many people, including myself, that this can lead to superintelligence: things that are fully autonomous, smarter than humans, and that we do not control.
