AI has huge potential to create more good jobs. We’re seeing this already through the 15,000 jobs being created in our AI Growth Zones, and through the success of brilliant British companies like Sage, Wayve and Graphcore.

This government believes AI sovereignty is not about isolationism or attempting to pull up the drawbridge and go it alone.

The Technology Secretary rejected calls to pause the development of artificial intelligence, describing such a move as “a double betrayal” of British talent and British interests.

I believe Sovereign AI is going to be one of the most important things this government does to build a better future for our country.

But detection is only part of the solution. That is why we have criminalised the creation of non-consensual intimate images, and are going further to ban the nudification tools that fuel this abuse.
